Known limitations on Salestrail

This page is a complete reference for what Salestrail cannot do. These are hard limits — they are not bugs, and they cannot be worked around within Salestrail. Understanding them upfront helps set the right expectations for your team.

iPhone (iOS) limitations

No automatic call tracking On iPhone, only calls made from within the Salestrail app are tracked. Calls made from the native Phone app, contacts list, recent calls, or any other app will not be logged. This is an Apple platform restriction.

No automatic inbound call tracking Incoming calls on iPhone cannot be tracked automatically. They must be logged manually after the call ends. See How to Manually Log a Call on iPhone.

No call recording Call recording is not supported on iPhone. Apple's platform restrictions prevent any app from recording call audio on iOS. There is no workaround.

No WhatsApp call tracking WhatsApp calls cannot be tracked on iPhone. This is a combination of Apple platform restrictions and WhatsApp's encryption model.

No dual SIM tracking Salestrail does not support dual SIM selection on iPhone.

Android limitations

One-sided audio on some devices On some Android devices, manufacturers restrict microphone access in a way that means only your voice is captured in recordings — not the other person's. This is a device-level restriction that Salestrail cannot override. Using speakerphone can help, as can switching recording sources in the Recorder APK settings, but neither is guaranteed to fix it on all devices. See Audio Quality Issues for more detail.

WhatsApp recording is not guaranteed on all devices WhatsApp call recording works on Android but is not reliable on every device. Whether both sides of the call are captured depends on the device manufacturer, Android version, and how WhatsApp handles audio on that specific device. See WhatsApp Recording — Limitations and Alternatives.

Built-in recorder does not work with Google Dialer If your phone uses a Google Dialer, Salestrail cannot access the built-in recorder's storage folder. The Salestrail Recorder APK must be used instead.

Battery optimization causes inconsistent tracking and recording Android's battery optimization will close Salestrail in the background if not disabled. This is not a Salestrail bug — it is how Android manages apps. Disabling battery optimization for both Salestrail and the Recorder APK is a required step, not optional. See Battery Optimization for your device.

Recording requires Android 9 or above Call tracking works on Android 8 and above. Call recording requires Android 9 or above.

General limitations

No VoIP or number provision Salestrail does not provide phone numbers and is not a VoIP solution. It tracks calls made from your existing mobile number on your regular mobile network.

No message tracking Salestrail tracks calls only. WhatsApp messages, SMS, and other messages are not logged.

No location tracking Salestrail does not track or log user location.

One CRM at a time Only one CRM integration can be active at a time. If you are migrating between CRMs, contact support@liid.com to discuss options during the transition period.

CRM matching by phone number only Salestrail matches calls to CRM records using phone numbers. If a number is not in your CRM, the call will not be pushed to it. We can customize so that new leads are created for calls where there is no match in your CRM. If you want to have this customization, please reach out to us on support@salestrail.io.

No automatic historical call import Salestrail logs calls going forward from the point of installation. It does not import your phone's existing call history.

If a limitation affects your team

Some limitations have partial workarounds or can be mitigated through configuration. If something on this list is blocking your team's workflow, contact support@liid.com and we'll discuss what options exist.
