Calls are being logged with a delay
If calls are appearing in the Salestrail app or dashboard but not immediately after the call ends, this is usually normal behaviour rather than a problem. This article explains why it happens and what to check if delays are consistently long.
Why delays happen
When you are on a call, your device prioritises the call itself and reduces available data bandwidth. Salestrail queues the call log and syncs it once bandwidth is restored — typically within a minute or two of the call ending. No data is lost during this process.
Delays are more common when:
- You are using mobile data rather than Wi-Fi
- You are on a 3G or Edge connection rather than 4G or 5G
- You are making back-to-back calls with little time between them
- You are using your device as a hotspot during calls, which reduces the connection available to other apps
What is a normal delay vs a problem
A delay of one to five minutes is normal and not a cause for concern. If calls are consistently appearing hours later, or only appearing when you open the app manually, something is likely restricting Salestrail in the background.
Check 1: Battery optimization
If Salestrail is being optimized by Android, it may not be able to sync call data until you open the app manually — which is why calls only appear when you open it. Go to Phone Settings > Apps > Salestrail > Battery and make sure it is set to Unrestricted. Also turn off Remove Permissions if App is Unused.
Check 2: Internet connection quality
Check that your device has a stable internet connection after calls end. If you are regularly in areas with poor signal, call logs will queue and sync once a better connection is available. This is expected behaviour — the calls will appear once connectivity improves.
Check 3: Device-specific background settings
Some manufacturers restrict background data sync beyond the standard battery optimization setting. Go to the Devices Battery Settings section and find your device brand — there may be additional settings such as background data restrictions or data saver modes that need to be adjusted.
Check 4: Hotspot usage
If your device's mobile hotspot is active during calls, it shares your data connection with other devices and can leave insufficient bandwidth for Salestrail to sync immediately. Turn off the hotspot if real-time logging is important.
If delays persist after checking all of the above
